Disruptors and Challenging the Status Quo
I’m incredibly honoured and grateful to feature in a body of work that celebrates and amplifies the stories of women from all walks of life. That body of work is called Disruptors, a magazine-book published by media company Violet Simon.
When I was first contacted to be interviewed for Disruptors, I couldn't believe it was me they wanted to speak to. I was convinced an admin error had been made. To be considered a disruptor and a person who challenges the status quo through my work has been validating, uplifting and heartening. To have my work and ideas recognised in such a way, will forever mean the world to me, even if the experience did send my imposter syndrome into overdrive.
Flash forward two years and you can find my story in the second issue of Disruptors. In my interview I share what life growing up was like for me, how I became a writer; my views of challenging the status quo; my experience of motherhood and my goals for the future. The process of writing my story for Disruptors gave me the opportunity to be completely myself, reflect on my history and reveal parts of my story that I have not shared before. To have my story published, read and accepted by so many people has done wonders for my confidence and the chance to present my most authentic self. It is for these reasons that Disruptors will forever hold a special place in my heart.
My story aside, every interview in Disruptors is compelling and inspiring. While it features the tales of successful women in business, charity, sport and so much more, each person has revealed a vulnerability I’ve never seen so beautifully raw and in such abundance before. I urge you to purchase a copy of this captivating collection of women’s stories. Especially given that only 0.5% of recorded history is about women’s stories, something that Violet Simon is passionate about changing.
As always, thank you for visiting my blog and your interest in my work.
