This is me in ‘23

Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my new online portfolio and blog.

Over the last few years, the content of what and how I write has evolved. For quite some time I’ve been wanting to create a new place to blog and store my directory of features - a space which reflects my growth as a journalist (and person). It’s for these reasons I created the very pages you’re viewing.

For those who don't know me, my career as a writer began as a junior journalist for an online publication, which created content for a range of consumer sites. From news stories to music reviews, I covered a range of topics and absolutely loved it. As time progressed I found myself writing for a niche magazine to eventually running the content department for a large e-commerce company, and later writing for a well-known weight loss programme. Although I enjoyed all my written projects and managerial roles, I longed to be a features writer.

In 2020 I finally gained the confidence and know-how (through winning a mentorship placement with Cosmopolitan Magazine) to embark on my dream career.

In the background I’ve continued to post on what started as a weight-loss blog, titled Treats and Treadmills. Over time however, I found myself writing less about my weight fluctuations and drawn to covering topics such as mental health, my experience as a mixed-race woman, the challenges of parenting and women’s health. I began to feel constrained by my initial blog aims and misleading to anyone visiting my pages for food and exercise inspiration.

With those goals and thoughts in mind, I welcome you to the new home for all my writing endeavours. You’ll be able to keep up-to-date with my latest features and blog posts, where I will discuss topics close to my heart, projects I’ve been working on and takeaways from interviews I’ve conducted.

I’m excited for the year ahead and sharing my journey with you.

I hope you enjoy reading my work and thank you again for visiting.

Take great care,
Chloe
